Executive Search for Private Clubs & Racquet Sports
Beyond The Baselines is a boutique executive search firm specializing in private clubs and racquet sports leadership. We conduct searches for Directors of Racquets, Directors of Tennis, Directors of Pickleball and Padel, Head Professionals, General Managers and other senior club executives throughout the United States.
We Don’t Just Recruit Racquets Executives. We Operate Racquets Departments
That distinction matters.
Beyond The Baselines and SBW Associates work inside private clubs every day. We manage racquets departments, oversee staff, develop programming, prepare budgets, evaluate compensation, work with boards and committees, and communicate directly with club members.
That operating experience shapes the way we conduct executive searches.
We understand that hiring a Director of Racquets or Director of Tennis isn’t simply about finding the best player, teacher or résumé. Today’s successful racquets executive must be able to recruit and manage a professional staff, create innovative programming, understand club finances, communicate effectively with members and management, embrace emerging sports such as pickleball and padel, and build a culture that reflects the individual club.
Understanding Every Side of the Search
A successful private club executive search requires understanding more than the position being filled.
We listen to the board and search committee, who want exceptional leadership and confidence that the club is making the right long-term appointment.
We listen to the membership, whose expectations for programming, communication, service and club culture ultimately determine whether a new director succeeds.
And we understand the candidate, including professional aspirations, compensation, housing, family considerations and the opportunity for career growth.
Bringing those perspectives together allows Beyond The Baselines to identify candidates who not only possess the necessary experience, but who fit the culture and expectations of the club.
A National Racquets Network
Through Beyond The Baselines’ work in private clubs, executive search, racquets management, consulting and industry media, we have developed relationships with racquets professionals and club leaders throughout the country.
Our network reaches Directors of Racquets, Directors of Tennis, Head Professionals, tennis professionals, pickleball and padel professionals, club managers and emerging leaders — including professionals who may not be actively looking for another position.
That allows us to go beyond simply advertising a position and waiting for applications. We actively identify and approach professionals whose experience and leadership style may fit the club.
More Than Filling a Position
Our objective isn’t simply to complete a search.
It is to help a club identify a leader who can build a staff, strengthen programming, communicate effectively, understand the membership and create an environment in which racquet sports can thrive.
The right appointment can transform a department.
That’s why we approach every executive search from the perspective of both search consultants and club operators.
Our process includes:
- Discovery sessions with boards and key stakeholders.
- Candidate sourcing through our proprietary network.
- Confidential outreach and in-depth interviews.
- Reference verification and family-fit assessment.
- Background checks and references verified.
- Offer and transition management.
Each search is led directly by our search team here at Beyond The Baselines leadership team, ensuring accountability and personal attention from start to finish.
